Graphic Design

The Graphic Design part-time position at Prairie Rivers of Iowa will create marketing and communication print, digital, and video materials for various conservation and tourism topics, assist with management and oversight of social media platforms, design email marketing, newsletter and web content, and other duties as assigned. This position will serve on the Marketing and Public Relations team working at our Ames, IA location.

Desired Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Must be comfortable using Adobe Creative Suite, proficient in InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Premiere Pro
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Superior creative skills and acute attention to detail
  • Experience in print layout and digital design
  • Experience in social media and web platforms, WordPress experience a plus
  • Experience in photo and video editing
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to multitask, and commitment to meeting deadlines
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent attitude, able to work with a wide group of persons and show great flexibility
  • Computer, server, networking, and troubleshooting skills desired, but not required.

Desired Education & Experience:

  • Two or Four Year Degree with a major in graphic design or related field
  • Related course work required
  • Related job experience preferred

Time Commitment and Compensation:

This part-time position will work up to 16 hours per week.  Work schedule and responsibilities will be determined by the Executive Director. Compensation will be $11.00-$12.00/hour. You must have your own car for transportation. The position will stay open until filled.

DEVELOPMENT AND EVENT PLANNING COORDINATOR

The Development and Event Planning Coordinator will assist the Executive Director at our Ames, IA location in planning and promoting natural resource-based events and fundraising software.  This position is key to expanding Prairie Rivers of Iowa’s reach across Iowa.  Recently our organization acquired a new donor software platform that needs to be integrated into our staff’s work.

 DUTIES:

  • Planning and coordinating programming and event activities with the Director and Staff
  • Working with partners and sponsors to promote our programs and events
  • Coordinating a development software platform for managing donor information
  • Assisting with social media posts on Facebook and Twitter
  • Creating systems to help plan all activities such as excel spreadsheets, google sheets, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned

 QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Working knowledge of social media, news sources
  • Interest in learning about and working with a nonprofit natural resource-based organization
  • Event planning experience
  • Development experience a plus

SUPERVISION:   The position will report to the Executive Director.

WAGE:  $11-$14 per hour, mileage will be compensated at the Federal rate.
