Welcome to the Watersheds & Waterways Program!
Below are the various services we offer and programming that we provide.
The Watersheds & Waterways team supports efforts improve water quality and control flooding in the South Skunk River, Squaw Creek, and their tributaries. We develop watershed plans, host events, create educational materials, assist in implementing agricultural conservation practices, collaborate with numerous partners, and promote the work being done to local media sources. We also promote habitat for pollinators and wildlife through the use of conservation practices like wetland restoration, riparian buffers, and native prairie plantings, a goal that often overlaps with water quality. Not sure what conservation practices will work on your land? Check out our interactive story map, using the Agricultural Conservation Planning Framework.
The projects we are currently working on are:
- Squaw Creek Water Quality Initiative
- Water Quality Monitoring
- Squaw Creek Watershed Small Landowner Program
- Headwaters of the South Skunk River Watershed
- Community Native Seed Bank
- Other Special Projects
