Prairie Rivers of Iowa Has Been a Force of Positive Change for 22 Years in Iowa
Our Resiliency Strengthens Our Communities
We have weathered many changes in the not-for-profit world and transformed from an organization affiliated with the USDA’s Natural Resources Conservation Service to an independent 501(c)3 not-for-profit with programs and services spanning across Iowa.
Our organization is based on a belief that individuals and businesses supporting not-for-profits strengthens our communities and provides the educational, environmental, health, and social services that citizens need, and which government cannot fully provide. Not-for-profits can speak out about difficulties in our society, give voice to issues, and lift up challenges otherwise ignored.
Today, we are asking for your support for an annual gift to Prairie Rivers of Iowa. As you know, not-for-profit organizations can only fulfill their missions when they have dedicated and passionate people who give their time, talent, and treasure.
Individual donations are integral to our organization’s mission. Prairie Rivers of Iowa needs funding to support our general operating expenses, funding to help us make breakthroughs in water quality, funding to expand people’s understanding of how to restore pollinator habitat, and funding to support the assets along the Lincoln Highway National Heritage Byway. Already this year we have published the 2021 Water Quality Monitoring in Story County Annual Report. We have secured funding to create the first-ever traveling Lincoln Highway National Heritage Byway exhibit, to be first seen in Jefferson, Iowa (June), Marshalltown, Iowa (July), and Nevada, Iowa (August).
These are just some of the many ways we could grow and expand to serve our mission with your support.
- Expand our ability to sample the water in our rivers and streams and share our water quality findings.
- Purchase additional scientific equipment and technology.
- Expand our prairie seed bank offerings to create more habitat for pollinators.
- Update our website and marketing capabilities for the Lincoln Highway National Heritage Byway
Here you will find an article briefly sharing some of the journeys of not-for-profits in this country. We hope you enjoy it!
We look forward to you joining us in these efforts as we work to improve our cultural and natural resources in Iowa.
Best wishes,
