Where Conservation Gets Inspired!
October 2, 2021
9 am – 1 pm
Registration Required Using Form Below (please fill out a registration for each person attending)
In celebration of Ames as the Iowa River Town of the Year for 2021 and in recognition of October as Watershed Awareness Month, the City of Ames is teaming up with the Prairie Rivers of Iowa, Skunk River Paddlers, and the Outdoor Alliance of Story County to cleanup a section of waterway within Ames.
Volunteers should dress for the weather and wear closed-toe shoes. Wear old clothes/shoes that can get muddy! Supplies (bug repellant, sunscreen, gloves and containers to hold litter will be provided, however, volunteers are welcome to bring their own supplies as well). Drinking water will be provided for all volunteers.
Registration is required to ensure adequate event supplies. Please register at least 5 days before the event. This helps to make sure everything is organized and flow smoothly the day of the cleanup. Volunteers under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.
This event is dependent on water level and on public health conditions. The event may be canceled if water levels are too low/high. Canoes may or may not be used depending on water levels.
The location of the cleanup and starting point will be provided near the time of the event. The event will start at 9 AM and go until around 1 PM.
In response to COVID-19, social distancing considerations will be incorporated into the event, and details will be provided in a follow-up email after registration.
