Tonia McCarley, a Prairie Rivers of Iowa Board Member, is the Administrative Director at the NSF Engineering Research Center for Biorenewable Chemicals (CBiRC) at Iowa State University, a position she has held since 2008. At CBiRC, she manages a $5+ million budget, eight subcontracts, and center researchers, faculty, staff, and students. Tonia is an Iowa State graduate, with degrees in fisheries and wildlife and economics.
Tonia has been involved in many professional activities, including the National Council of University Research Administrators, and the the Biorenewables Complex Art-in-State-Buildings (AiSB) Committee at Iowa State University.
Tonia recently received the Regents Award for Staff Excellence at Iowa State in 2014. She was previously a nominee for the university’s Live Green! Excellence Award in 2011.
